The National Green Tribunal issued an order with immediate effect, to ban all diesel vehicles that are more than 10 years old in Delhi. This order has been issued to curb the pollution in the state.
The NGT asked the Regional Transport Office department of Delhi to cancel the registration of all the diesel vehicles that are older than ten years. The Green court also asked RTO to give the information to the Delhi Traffic Police about these vehicles so that the police can look into it.
The green court had asked Delhi government to ban such vehicles last year, stating that the pollution levels are at an alarming rate in Delhi and people here deserve better air.
Vehicles that are older than 15 years are already banned in Delhi and now green court not only banned diesel vehicles that are older than 10 years but also said that such vehicles coming from other states will also not be allowed in Delhi.
