Flipkart is a popular e-commerce company but every now and then it lands into legal troubles due to few cheating cases. A recent case of cheating has been registered against the online shopping giant as one of its customers received a soap bar instead of a smartphone.

Anand Bhalakia, a resident of Walkeshwar registered a complaint in Malabar Hill Police Station in Mumbai stating that he ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 From Flipkart but received a soap bar inside the packaging.

Anand was very excited to receive his new phone but as soon as he opened the parcel he was shocked. He decided to register a complaint against the company but the company stated that his complaint was not genuine.

Anand said,  “I had ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on May 25 and the product was delivered on May 30. I had opted for cash-on-delivery and paid Rs 29,900 to the delivery boy.”

After few minutes, he opened the box and found that there was a Nirma soap inside with an Andriod phone charger. A shock like this could easily annoy anyone but holding his patience together he called that delivery boy and lodged a complaint.

He said,”“The box contained a soap bar and an Android phone charger. I telephoned the deliveryman immediately. He was 10 minutes away from my home but said I would have to call Flipkart’s customer care number to lodge a complaint.”

The response of Flipkart’s customer care truly pissed him off as they told him that his complaint wasn’t genuine. Anand works in an IT firm and he decided to report the matter to Malabar Hill Police Station and lodged a complaint under Section 420 of IPC.

For days, Flipkart kept him waiting for their response regarding the issue, they denied any refund or replacement which annoyed Anand and finally he filed a complaint.  

After he lodged a complaint legally, he registered his complaint on various customer complaint websites after which the e-commerce company refunded his money.

Sub-inspector Devidas Chaudhary stated that the investigation on this case will start after taking the statement of the delivery boy and every other aspect regarding this case will also be considered.

Flipkart released a statement :

“Flipkart observes a zero tolerance policy on incidents that impact customer trust. We are conducting an internal investigation into this case and are putting all efforts to find out the real facts of this incident. Meanwhile, as a responsible marketplace, the money has been refunded to the customer in good faith.”
