The Border Security Forces, on Thursday, recovered 25 packets of heroin near the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar.
BSF officials said that the heroin seizure was made in the BOP (Border out Post) Shahpur area of Amritsar.
On Thursday, the alert troopers of BSF noticed the suspicious movement of smugglers near the border security fence from Pakistan. The smugglers were challenged but they managed to escape, the seizure of the heroin packets made following a search of the area.
On Thursday morning a consignment of 25 packets Heroin was found and seized.
The weight and the estimated value of the seized packets were not determined yet. There has been a spurt in reports of drug smuggling in recent times along the border area.
There has also been an outbreak of the reports of anti-national activities along the border area.
BSF seized two kilograms of heroin, a few days ago in Ferozepur sector and eight kilograms of heroin at the India-Pakistan border in Abohar Sector.
