1. Bengaluru Police detained seven in Kammanahalli molestation case.
On Wednesday, Bengaluru Police has detained seven people that include two men and five accomplices, in Kammanahalli molestation case. This is the same case where a woman was groped by two men in Bengaluru at 2:30 am on 1st January 2017. The other five have been taken into custody for questioning about their involvement in the assault. The arrest took place just after the video of this case started surfacing the Internet.
2. Opposition parties protest against Union Budget being announced before the state elections.
Opposition parties including Congress, Samajwadi Party and the left have united against the Union Budget being announced before the state elections. Oppositions parties wrote a letter to the President and the CFC that stated, this move is going to influence polls in the favour of the ruling party. The Union Budget is said to be announced on 1st February and the polling in different states would start from 4th February.
3. Sheila Dikshit said that she would withdraw as CM candidate from Congress if the party allies with Samajwadi Party.
According to the three-time Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dixit, she would step aside from the candidacy if Congress decides to tie up with Samajwadi Party. She said that Akhilesh Yadav is a “much better” candidate for the position of Chief Minister of the state. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier said that they would not ally with any other party for the polls.
4. ISRO is going to launch 103 satellites on one rocket in the month of February.
The Indian Space Research Organisation on Wednesday released that they will launch record 103 satellites on one rocket in the month of February. According to the space agency, no other country has ever attempted a mission on this scale so far. Currently, a record of launching 37 satellites on a single mission has been made by Russia in 2014.
5. A 50-year-old man killed 10 family members in Amethi and committed suicide.
A 50-year-old man allegedly killed 10 members of his family that included nine young girls and committed suicide. He hanged himself to death at Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh. The suspect drugged his family members in the name of a medicine after which he slit opened their throats. The young girls included his daughter and nieces aged between five and 17.
