1. AIADMK Appoints Sasikala as Temporary Party Chief.
Tamil Nadu’s Late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s close friend and associate Sasikala Natarajan has been appointed the party’s chief by AIADMK on Thursday. She has currently been appointed on the temporary position and would formally be elected in January. Sasikala has never held public office or contested an election in her life.
2. 33 Injured in an Explosion at a Boxing Match in the Philippines (Update) .
In central Philippines province of Leyte on Wednesday night, an explosion at a boxing match led to 33 being injured. Earlier it was said that 10 have been killed in the blast, however, SOCIAL Welfare Secretary apologised over the ‘false alarm’. The Investigators have said that a cell phone-triggered improvised explosive device might be behind the explosion, as it was detonated around the area.
3. Delhi-Based Lawyer, Rohit Tandon, Arrested in Money Laundering Case.
Rohit Tandon, Delhi-based lawyer, was arrested by Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday after crores of rupees were found from his office during a raid. The raided money is said to be in both new and old notes. He has been charged under Prevention of Money Laundering Act and would be produced in court today.
4. Asaduddin Owaisi and Four Others have been Acquitted in 2005 Muthangi Masjid Demolition Case.
Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen President Asaduddin Owaisi and four others have been acquitted by The Sangareddy Court. They were charged on the 2005 Muthangi Masjid demolition case.
5. RBI Approved the Ban on High-Denomination Notes, Less Than Three Hours Before the Announcement.
Reserve Bank of India’s board, approved the ban of high-denomination notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 less than three hours before PM Narendra Modi’s announcement. The decision was taken at 5:30 pm in the board meeting.
