Indians have followed the 2016 US Election season with more than the usual interest, and the number of Indians searching about the Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump Presidential Elections is the largest ever, according to Google reports.
Much has been written about the after effects on India following the ‘The Day’ results, but we would like to discuss the possible scenario in India if The Republican Party’s nominee, Donald Trump is elected as the next US President.
Keeping aside everything that the Republican has said and done in the past during his election campaign, we are going to inform you about the areas where his win will affect India the most.
Before saying anything further, we want to tell you that there are a lot of Trump supporters in India and the recent ‘havan’ organised in Mumbai for Trump’s win in US election is enough to prove the above statement.
Donald Trump, also regarded as the angriest would-be US President, has stated in the past that if he wins, India and US are going to be the ‘best of friends’ and he would work towards making the ties more deeper between the two countries.
However, this is what he has said and there is no guarantee that the same will be done by him, but since it’s our tendency to believe whatever a Politician says before an election, so, we have to believe in the best friend statement.
Immigration:
Immigration is definitely the most talked about topic of the current Presidential Elections and Donald Trump’s take on this topic is somewhat aggressive and people have marked him anti-immigrant. However, he is not completely anti-immigrant and just wants to eliminate illegal immigration in the US.
Majority of Indian workforce working in US, is of skilled workers which can not be replaced by unskilled US workers. Trump is against the unskilled immigrants who work for less money which results in degradation of average minimum wages in the US.
So, if you deserve to be there, you will definitely be there.
Pakistan:
Donald Trump called Pakistan a ‘serious problem’ last year and also stated that India is keeping a check on Pakistan. Trump’s supporters believe that since he is more straight-forward as compared to the ones before him, he may initiate the cutting down of financial aids to Pakistan if the country continues its support of terror.
Economy:
Donald Trump has established various business ventures in India and the under construction Trump Towers are a great example of this. Trump would definitely want the Indian economy to grow and this may be due to his own interest but ultimately, it will turn out to be beneficial for India’s growth.
Since China is the biggest US competitor on the basis of economy and Donald Trump has many times pointed out that China is regressively cutting down the manufacturing costs, and the country is still availing Financial Aid from the US. Trump has promised to cut down the cash flow from US into China’s economy. This may shift the dominance in manufacturing sector from China to India, as India boasts the second lowest manufacturing costs in the world.
All the above are possibilities and have high chances of becoming a reality. So, if Donald Trump wins, India will not be as vulnerable as many have depicted in the past.
