Controversial singer and rapper XXXTentacion was pronounced dead on Monday evening at Fort Lauderdale-area hospital in Broward County, Florida. He was taken to the hospital after being shot outside a Deerfield Beach Motorcycle dealership, while he was in his car. The suspects, who were two men, shot him in an apparent robbery and fled the site in a dark coloured SUV. This information was given by Keyla Concepción, Broward County sheriff department public information officer, who also said that the police is actively looking for the suspects and asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to come forward.
XXXTentacion was one of the rappers who got big in the recent years and came out of the booming Miami rap scene.
XXXTentacion, also known as X, was born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy on January 23, 1998, in Plantation, Florida. His past has been filled with some of the most controversial and positive change stories, which had been both depressing and inspiring for the listeners. Often described as the rapper who was always ready to test the boundaries and put out something new, XXXTentacion was able to change people’s perception about him in the last few months, after being in a dark-dark place for almost two years.
His music career took off in 2016 after his song, “Look At Me” went viral on social media and audio distribution platform SoundCloud. Soon he came out with other numbers and a music album that received a lot of varied reactions, while earlier his music was considered too angry, there was a change that came in his music in the last few months. His recent music sprawled across different genres including hard rock, nu-metal and rap.
His latest album “?” premiered at No. 1 when it was released in March, according to Billboard’s website. The album’s single “Sad!” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 15 weeks on the charts, according to Billboard.
At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial for his domestic violence case that was reported against him for beating his girlfriend while she was pregnant, somewhere in 2015-2016. And he had been under house arrest for a time while he awaited trial on battery and harassment charges. The house arrest was lifted in March, according to Miami-Dade court documents.
