1. Rakhi Sawant arrested by police over her remarks against Valmiki.
Rakhi Sawant was arrested by Punjab Police on Tuesday over her remarks against Valmiki in a video that she posted on her private channel. She called Valmiki a murderer who later on changed and even wrote Ramayana. This statement was said in relation to Mika, the singer who forcibly kissed Rakhi on his birthday bash, and the behavioural change he has been through. Her statement hurt the sentiments of the Valmiki Community who later on went to file a complaint against her. Sawant’s hearing is scheduled for 10th April now.
2. Two engineering students found dead in Lonavala.
Two engineering students were found bludgeoned to death on an isolated hill near INS Shivaji in Lonavala. As per the police, the unidentified people had stripped the 22-year-old man and his female friend and smashed their heads with heavy objects after tying their hands together. Both the demised were final year students of computer engineering in the Sinhgad Engineering College, Lonavala campus. The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against the unidentified people who committed the crime.
3. A Kyrgyz man was behind the St. Petersburg metro explosion.
Yesterday’s St. Petersburg metro station explosion that caused the death of 11 and left many injured was carried out by a suicide bomber from Kyrgyzstan. The identity of the suicide bomber was announced by the security services in the former Soviet Union republic Kyrgyzstan. Akbarjon Djalilov, born in 1995, has been named as carrying out an “act of terror” as per the Russian Investigative Committee.
4. DGP Geetha Johri named Gujarat’s first woman police chief.
On Tuesday, Director General of Police (DGP) Geetha Johri was appointed in-charge police chief of Gujarat. Her arrival was announced by Pradeepsinh Jadeja, minister of state for home, and stated that Johri has been appointed to this position as she is the senior-most IPS officer in the state, as of now. With this, DGP Johri became the first woman IPS officer to be appointed for this job in the state.
5. BJP MLA’s daughter stabbed by her stalker on Campus.
On Monday afternoon, a 22-year-old MBA student, who happens to be the daughter of sitting BJP MLA, was stabbed by her jilted lover. The incident occurred on her campus in Pune where she was stabbed multiple times and got her finger chopped off. The apparent lover took the decision after the victim filed a complaint against him to the college’s management. She is the daughter of MLA Sanjeev Reddy Bodkurwar from Wani-Yavatmal constituency.
