The India-China financial dialogue which was due to be held between Indian finance minister Arun Jaitley and Chinese finance minister Lou Jiwei next week has been called off.
Jaitley is due to arrive China on Thursday on a five-day visit to take part in a host of events. During his visit, he was supposed to take part in the planned eighth financial dialogue but the meet stands cancelled.
The sources revealed that the reason for this cancellation is the unavailability of Department of Economic Affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das.
As Department of Economic Affairs secretary, could not attend the meeting, it stands cancelled.
India and China held seven rounds of financial dialogues till now and all of these meets were headed by Finance Secretaries of both countries.
This was the first time when finance ministers of both countries were to sit in for a financial dialogue.
The meet enables India and China to annually review and discuss a wide gamut of international, bilateral issues for strengthening and deepening economic and financial cooperation.
