2017 Hyundai Verna has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh for the base variant while the top spec variant is priced at Rs 12.61 Lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). However, these prices are limited to the first 20,000 units, after which they will be subjected to a revision, which also hints towards a rise in prices.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna is based on an all new K2 platform, while design inspiration comes from its elder sibling, the new generation Elantra which made its Indian debut last year. Interestingly, the 2017 Hyundai Verna is just the first of many future models which come with a new cascading grille that is going to be standard across the company’s line-up.
Built on the advanced high strength steel (AHSS) frame, the next-gen 2017 Hyundai Verna gets better weight control, enhanced performance as well as fuel efficiency as compared to its previous model and it comes with a host of other added features.

Under the hood, powering the 2017 Hyundai Verna are the same, but refined, 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol and the 1.6-liter VGT diesel engines. The petrol unit has a power output of 123 PS and 15.4 KGM of torque while the diesel motor stand churns out 128 PS and 26.5 KGM of torque. The company claims that the fuel efficiency has also gone up and the figures now stand at, petrol automatic – 15.92kmpl, petrol manual – 17.70kmpl, diesel automatic – 21.02kmpl and diesel manual – 24.75kmpl. Both engines are offered either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission.
The company further claims that 2017 Hyundai Verna comes with class leading NVH levels.
Coming to class leading features, the all new 2017 Hyundai Verna comes with multiple segment firsts, which are expected to help the C-Segment sedan claim its standings in the competition against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, to name a few. These features are, an electronic sunroof (City already comes with one), cooled seats, hands-free boot release and eco coating.
While the 2017 Hyundai Verna will be offered in four variants, E, EX, SX and the SX (O), it will also come with an option of seven colors, four of which are brand new.
