Bye-Bye 2015, a lot has happened this year in our arena. India, witnessed some unusual, some common and some regular affairs this year. So, we thought to create “a glimpse” of the major events that took place in 2015. To bid adieu to our going year let us took what happened from January 2015 to December 2015. Let us take “a Glimpse” of India in 2015.
In the Month of January, lots of speculations were going on, as the new government wanted to replace Planning Commission which became true. Niti Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India Aayog) replaced Planning Commission.
Even on our Republic Day Celebrations, we witnessed US President Barak Obama as the Chief Guest.
In the month end, The Agni-V was test launched from a canister in Wheeler Island, suitable for road or rail mobile launch vehicles.
In the month of February, Delhi witnessed the HISTORIC win of Aam Aadmi Party securing 67 of 70 seats in Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections.
Month of March was ironic as India as nation successfully test fired the Beyond visual range (BVR) air-to-air missile, Astra from a Su-30MKI in test range in Chandipur, Orissa and on the other hand few groups were talking and taking us back to 18th century as Jat people were agitating for OBC status as Jat people were given Other Backward Class status by previous government in a jiffy which was rejected by Supreme Court of India in the Month of March. After separation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Hyderabad became the capital of Telangana and in March Amaravathi was announced to be the name of the new capital of Andhra Pradesh to be built near Thullur.
Month of March also witnessed the freedom of expression as it got a new definition as the apex court decided and declared that Section 66A of the IT act, 2000 is unconstitutional.
Bharat Ratna was awarded to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and to freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya posthumously.
Two major achievements were secured by ISRO and our Defense team, as ISRO placed Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) 1-D satellite in orbit by a PSLV C-27 launch vehicle and India initiated to evacuate citizens of India and few other nations from Yemen, as conditions worsen there due to civil war.
In April, a new event to self-removal of subsidy were provided to citizens, the new campaign was launched for rich people to “GIVE IT UP” LPG subsidy for those who in the need was initiated.
We not only began positives aspects inside nation, we were getting plethora of appreciation on international forum as India evacuated 4,640 Indians and 960 nationals from 41 other countries.
In the month of May, India also signed an agreement with Iran to develop the Port of Chabahar with the signing of an agreement for the development process, India also sorted border dispute with Bangladesh as our Parliament passed the Constitution (119th Amendment) Bill, 2013.
In May, our Indian Army welcomed new missile Akash into its fold.
Three New and large-Scale social security schemes were launched in the month of May: Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana, at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.
The month of June showed the power of Indian Army, however, later on, it became controversial due to some irresponsible statements of politicians as Indian Army attacked two militant groups across the Myanmar border that was retaliation for the 4th June attack.
Still the end of the month, gave a positive hope as Prime Minister of India made sure that the June 21 is celebrated as the first International Yoga Day.
The month of July marked its presence as the Digital India program was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in the meanwhile, ISRO also gave us another proud moment as it launched 5 UK satellites with a total payload of 1,440 kg using the PSLV-C28 launch vehicle. We also became a part of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
While July was the month of Progress, the month of August was in news due to the demonstrations demanding reservations for the Patel community began in Gujarat. The only good news that sounded positive to the ear was the successful launch of GSAT-6 using the GSLV D-6 launch vehicle by ISRO.
In the month of September, the central government banned the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) for five years and on the border front we were facing turbulence from Nepal as Anti-India protests aroused anger among people of Madhesi and Tharu ethnic groups as they found new constitution of Nepal as unfavorable for them. With all the agitations and anger Anti-India image and news were circulating in the news arena. The month of September also witnessed the launched of first space observatory Astrosat.
The month of October marked the promise and a target to reduce Emission intensity by 33%-35% by 2030 from 2005 level, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar announced India’s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Afterwards, the controversy that was related to National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) was removed as the Supreme Court of India declared it unconstitutional. While our Judiciary was in turmoil still the commoners were worried as the retail price of Toor dal reached ₹200 (US$3.00) per kg not only Toor dal other pulses also reached high prices. To overcome the inflated prices several state governments were selling imported pulses at subsidized prices. October also began the mark of digital India as e-Sahyog was launched, digital service of the Income Tax Department by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. This service will basically notify the payer in a case of mismatch in filings. While the end of the October marked the National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) as the birth anniversary of Sardar VallabhBhai Patel was observed on 31st the end of November was observed as Samvidhan Divas (Constitution Day).
In the month of December, while Delhi is gearing up for ODD-EVEN scheme, our PM gave a surprise visit to our neighbor Pakistan. This visit did make a lot of news and controversies in domestic politics, however, on the international platform, it will show how committed we are to maintain our relations with our neighbors. We also signed 16 agreements with Japan. The crucial and welcomed step was the Juvenile Justice bill which was passed by Rajya Sabha on December 22nd.
While New Year is bringing all speculations of Odd-Even and Start-up and Stand Up India plan. Let’s hope everyone will have the blast New Year!
