A painting that depicts Virat Kohli’s Indian Premier League journey over the past 10 years was recently brought by a British Indian entrepreneur Poonam Gupta for a massive 23.7 cr (2.9 million pounds). Yes, you read that right, this did in fact happened.
The person behind this special painting is Sacha Jaffrey who is an award winning, as well as, one of the most notable painters in the world. This painting was brought by Poonam during a recent charity dinner which was organised by the Virat Kohli Foundation. This was the same event which also had the attendance of Vijay Mallya, due to which many started even accusing the foundation.
This is not the first time when Sacsha Jaffrey has worked with a world-famous sportsperson for a good cause. Jaffrey has earlier collaborated with MS Dhoni, David Beckham and Yuvraj Singh for their charity causes.
The buyer of this masterpiece, Poonam Gupta is the CEO of a Scotland-based company, PG Papers. She is also a well-known cricket enthusiast and a connoisseur of cricket memorabilia. Gupta said, “What I like about this young generation of Indian cricketers is that they are responsible and want to make difference on and off the field. I am very connected to the cause taken up by Virat. Slavery has no place in this world and we need to stand up and do our bit with however we can. I am glad Virat has come forward against this evil and by buying this magnificent piece of art created by my favourite artist Sacha Jaffrey, I tick two boxes. I take a rare masterpiece to my home and also help this noble cause in my own way”.
