India dominated the recently concluded test match series against New Zealand as they clean sweeped the visitors by 3-0. Now it’s time for the ODI series to start and the viewers have great expectations from the Indian Team.
The first match of the series is scheduled on 16 October at Dharamshala and the hype has already crossed the ceiling. This will be India’s first ODI match at home since October 2015.
Indian Team’s performance in One Day format has not been good in the recent years, as the team only managed to win two ODI series against Zimbabwe.
On the other hand, India vs New Zealand matches are one of the must watch matches as, the Kiwis love to swing the ball which the Indian batsmen are not good against and the Indian team has some good spinners who have made batting difficult for the New Zealanders.
Here is the record of ODI matches played between these two countries.
Total | In India | In New Zealand | At Other Venues | |
Matches Played | 93 | 27 | 34 | 32 |
India Won | 46 | 21 | 10 | 15 |
New Zealand Won | 41 | 5 | 21 | 15 |

No Result | 5 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
The India team is currently at the 4th position in ICC ODI rankings with only 110 points while the visitors have occupied the 3rd position with 114 points. India has to win the series by at least 4-1 to claim the third position and to dethrone New Zealand team.
Given the recent performances of Indian players, the task seems easy for the M.S Dhoni led team.
