At a time where the South African cricket team is making vibrant news away from the Madiba-land, hammering the West Indies who never perhaps suspected being hit below the belt so painfully, here’s a South African woman that’s also making news. Although, not really for dismissing Windies batsmen or for taking a flurry of wickets.
A South African woman that goes by the name of Sithole (which isn’t pronounced the way you think it is) actually successfully gave birth to 10 babies. On lighter none, none of the babies have yet been named Baby de Villiers. But you never know!
But on to more serious things with regards to this news, Gosiame Sithole is quite the news maker in a country suffering with recession and a sluggish economic growth with much of 2020 seeing South African exports falling off steeply all thanks to the pandemic.
And where 2021 stands, then it could be said with comfortable ease that until the end of the year, this news regarding the 37-year-old South African woman will continue to turn heads and amuse people for the sheer immensity of weight and not to forget, population explosion it carries.
Understandably so, Sithole has made globetrotting headlines already with many of th world’s respected media questioning just how’s it even possible in today’s day and age to produce 10 children?
Nonetheless, what’s important to note is that of the 10 children born to Gosiame Sithole, there are 3 boys and 7 girls.
But what’s not so impressive, however, is that there are, at present, no public or private records available in South Africa- no jokes- about the woman by that name having delivered that many babies, not the dearth of them!
So the question is- did Casper the ghost come and do the improbable? Well, jokes apart, there are appeals from the South African government to be furnished with immediate information about Sithole and her excellent delivery, something that in cricketing parlance would be a beamer meets a toe-crushing yorker.
Moreover, there’s a serious catch.
Indian Express reported the following on the matter that’s grabbed the eyeballs the same way a piece of news on rockets fired by Israel over Gaza does:
Phumla Williams, Director General at Government Communication Information System (GCIS), South Africa, posted on Twitter that authorities could not find any evidence of the births.
Williams then tagged IOL news, a news and information website based in South Africa that originally broke the story, suggesting that the news might be fake.
The journalist who worked on the story, Piet Rampedi, responded to William’s tweet saying, ”Phumla, our law enforcement agencies can’t find and bring to book a single high profile corrupt/ thieving politician despite what’s public knowledge. Does it mean they don’t exist because @mirriamp can’t see and touch them? Your illogical reasoning and poverty of thought is sad”.
But all of that said, let’s assume that the piece of news is true and that the South African woman did deliver 10 babies, the key question is- is it ever going to be easy to feed a family of 10 newly borns?
Well, for sure, it can be child’s play if you’re a member of the Royal family and the Queen, in particular, at the ripe young age of 95 years.
While Sithole scored 10 in a go, the Queen is only 5 shy of reaching a century! Well, this world and its shenanigans, I tell you!
