Violence there’s always and often in the world but even more so when it comes to the Middle East. And when you speak of that part of the Middle East that is so often doused in controversy, heated exchanges, geopolitical undercurrents and constant rabble rousing, then you just know there’s hardly any easy day. Which is why there just isn’t when things concern themselves with Israel and its neighbour, Palestine.
In the past, it has been proven – and is no longer alleged- that Israel actually used a Palestinian boy as a shield against cross border shelling and firing from the end of Palestine. What’s also known is that under former President Netanyahu’s reign, or should one call it regime, Israel went about extending its expansion plans on the Palestinian side of the border and quite vociferously so.
But of late, what’s become a sort of normality, if one were to put it like that, is the fact that Israel is playing the role of an aggressor against Palestinian settlers. The complaints from the other side of Israeli border, the land that belongs to Palestine is that where the last two years are concerned, then Israel has been targeting assaults and hits against the settlers.
In what can be dubbed a clear strategy backed by aggressive targeting of its Palestinian enemies, Israel has been harsh and cold where the last few months stand.
That’s no hate speak at all for where the recent months stand in perspective about where Israel is on its position on Palestine or the Palestine strategy, then it’s clear to note that violence perpetrated by those in West Bank has risen.
And that’s not all; there’s generally been a steep rise in violent attacks directed against all Palestinians in the last quarter of an year. This can never be taken lightly by any Not-For-Profit or for that matter, any rights organisation.
In what has really been a shocking state of affairs since violence in Israel and Palestine relations is such a detriment to peace, it’s been found that the common farmers, who painstakingly earn their livelihood too have been attacked by Israel.
Why’s this happening and just what is Israel actually achieving with all of this, we will never know. What we do know, however, is the fact that farmers engaged in harvesting their olive trees have complained that Israeli aggression towards them has been rampant of lately.
All of that said, the following inputs were taken from among the leading eyes on the Middle East in the form of Al Jazeera:
“Settler attacks against Palestinians are a strategy employed by the Israeli apartheid regime, which seeks to advance and complete its misappropriation of more and more Palestinian land,” the rights group said in its report. “When the violence occurs with permission and assistance from the Israeli authorities and under its auspices, it is state violence. The settlers are not defying the state; they are doing its bidding.”
But having said that, against whom in particular has Israel targeted its attacks where the last two years are concerned specifically speaking. Perhaps the following inputs may suffice:
“It is evident that there is an increase in the attacks,” Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settler violence in the northern West Bank, told Al Jazeera last month, describing the violence as “planned and not spontaneous”.
