Justin Bieber’s memes, Donald Trump’s and Boris Johnson’s hairstyle and the public dressing sense of stars like Ranvir Singh. Are these the only things that are bizarre or have a strange vibe about them? Could it be that there are other sites too, in fact, that are, quite possibly weirder?
But first up- a truth. Strange developments and bizarre occurrences aren’t anything new in the world and have always dominated headlines. Whether it were long dreary pieces written to mock fun of Elton John, or attaching too much importance to what Lady Ga Ga wears or looks like, or giving too much importance to stuff such as whether Michael Jackson changed his gender, going as far as believing he slept in oxygen chambers that could increase his life span and what not.
But at the same time, there actually are sights that truly deserve to be called bizarre and deserve to be treated that way. And one among them, is ‘the sighting of a pig-shaped shark.’
You actually read that right. Yes, there actually is a pig-shaped shark that has been spotted by a bunch of sailors who confessed to seeing something that was perhaps as random as it was absurd.
Rather, one could call it absurdly funny.
But that being said, what was the whole episode the pig shaped shark that since its spotting, been found everywhere on the World Wide Web, having become a spectacle of sorts?
That said, what must be said is that this is the first-of-its-kind spotting of a creature that looks rather odd. And this being, an aquatic creature, hitherto unknown or unseen.
But before we delve into further details, here’s a funny observation about the pig-shaped shark: and it’s that, that it also looks like a Hippopotamus, if you observe the face closely.

According to The Mirror, the fish was spotted in the waters at the Darsena Medicea marina in the town of Portoferraio on the Italian island of Elba. Sailors who pulled it out of water were ‘creeped out’ by its bizarre-looking face, but quickly dispelled the possibility of it being a mutant. The fish was instead identified as an angular roughshark, which lives up to 2,300 feet below the surface. It is sometimes known as a pig-face shark.
A fish described as having the body of a shark and the face of a pig was pulled out of the sea by Italian naval officers who were left baffled by their rare catch.
Photos of the shark were shared on Facebook last Friday and have gone viral on the platform with over 500 comments and more than 1,200 reactions. Many in the comments section said they were surprised by the odd-looking creature, while others criticised the naval officers, assuming that the shark had been caught on purpose.
The angular roughshark is currently listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Now all said and done, what’s surprising to note is that while the sighting of this creature surprised quite a lot of people, but those who didn’t get surprised, are researchers and experts who suggest that such a creature has been previously seen in the ocean. So it’s technically not a first-time occurrence.
