Australia smashed Bangladesh on Monday in the third match of the World T20’s Super 10 stage. The clash between Australia and Bangladesh was held at Chinnaswamy Stadium on 21 March 2016. Bangladesh made a chasing score of 157 runs and Australia chased down the target with three wickets and 9 balls to spare.
Usman Khawaja played a spectacular innings for Australia. He smashed 58 runs off 45 balls with seven fours and a sixer. Though till 8th over Australia lost only one wicket but after 11th over the wickets started falling regularly.
However, Glenn Maxwell chipped in with 26 runs in 15 balls with two four and two sixes, while other batsmen also helped the team sail through safely including Shane Watson (21), David Warner (17) and Steve Smith (14).
Shakib Al Hasan displayed a stunning innings of bowling claiming 3/27 in four overs while Mustafizur Rahman clocked 2/30 for Bangladesh.
Australia won the toss and Captain Steve Smith chose to field first but team Australia failed to contain Bangladesh to a low total.
Mahmudullah of Bangladesh top scored with a quickfire 49 runs off 29 balls smashing seven fours and a six.
Australia’s Adam Zampa claimed 3 wickets in 4 overs conceding 23 runs. Zampa was also the player of the match for his bowling effort.
With 2 points, Australia grabbed the third position in Group 2 after defeating Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh touched the bottom of the list after losing this match to Australia.
