A thrilling bowling spell by Mitchell Marsh helped Australia to win Tri-Nation-Series Final comfortably by 58 runs against home team West Indies at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Sunday.
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first, opening batsman Aaron played well for 47 off just 41 balls including six 4s and one 6 and also well supported by Australian captain Steve Smith (46 off 59 balls).
Wicket-Keeper batsman, Matthew Wade played a match winning knock as he smashed 57 off 52 balls including 2 fours and 3 sixes and finished Australian innings with a massive six over mid wicket off the final ball as they scored 270-9 in 50 overs.
In reply, West Indies got off to a good start as openers Andre Fletcher (9 off 25) and Johnson Charles(45 off 69 balls) made a quick partnership of 49 runs.
But the West Indian team collapsed after Hazlewood dismissed Fletcher (9) in 11th over, as medium-pacer Marsh picked three quick wickets to turn the match in Australia’s favour.
Marsh sent Darren Bravo (6) and Marlon Samuels (6) cheaply, before opener Charles (45) got out leg-before-wicket to leave the home team struggling at 72-4.
Marsh completed his fiery spell with 3-32 off 10 overs, while Hazlewood (5-50) got 5 wickets haul and West Indies were all out for 212 after 48.4 overs.
