We think about the IPL when it’s not happening. We obsess over it- and understandably so- when it is premiering. We often bring our lives to a standstill when the Indian Cricket season is on and tend to forget about most other developments. When an Australia or England play, we turn into devotees to whom little else besides cricket featuring eminent sides matters. But do we give enough attention to things like Indoor cricket?
And as a matter of fact, does it occur to us that there’s such as thing as the Indoor Cricket world cup?
The Indoor cricket world cup- and I say to thee- is an important building block of many a cricketer’s life. The fact that cricket authorities have built a venerable platform such as a world cup for this event only goes to show the importance attached to what is still, a heavily underrated tournament.
But a world cup is a world cup after all, we mustn’t underestimate its importance and give credit where it’s due.
This brings us to the question of the 2022 Indoor cricket world cup. A few hours ago, the World Indoor Cricket Foundation, also known as the WICF announced that the world cup will be held this year in October. A week-long event, the Indoor Cricket will be hosted by Australia, among the big daddies of world cricket and will last from October 8 until 15.
Now turning our attention to what India has been doing in regards to the Indoor cricket contests, it helps to know that teams from India have been a part of the construct since 2010. They’ve been playing under the auspices of the Indoor Sports Foundation.
But recent form suggests that India haven’t quite been at their peak where it comes to the Indoor Cricket world cup, with the team finishing fourth in the last two instalments of the prestigious event, whether one speaks of the 2014 or the 2017 editions.
That being said, Free Press Journal, among the few publications based in the country to cover information about the forthcoming Indoor Cricket world cup had the following insights to share:
The Indian Indoor Cricket Squad is all set to prove its mettle in the upcoming Indoor Cricket World Cup to be held in Australia from 8th to 15th Oct 2022.
