Education. That’s not just any other word; it’s a powerful, emotive and transformative nine-letter word that stands for vision. It stands for positivity. It stands for filling the blank canvass of the mind with the power of knowledge. Think of it as being the direction that leads to a path, helping the pathless. Yet, that being said, there’s also a catch that rests in there.
One doesn’t always have the privilege to lead an educated life. There are countless, at any point in time in your life, who are left bereft of one of the most important foundations of living. A lack of privileges and the scarcity of economic resources often play the spoilsport. Fortunate, therefore, are those who have been schooled, sent to colleges and made to participate in educative programs that possess the power to transform human lives.
And while there are several areas all around our beautiful country where one is devoid of the joy of schooling and thus, finding the key stepping stone to life, the state of Rajasthan, at this time, is leading by example. It’s taking the big positive step to shoulder support towards countless children studying in the government schools.
So just how is that? Well, at a time where there’s hardly a dearth of negative, grief-inducing news in the country, the cases of corruption, rising prices of fuel and even milk (as what turned out a few days ago in February), in comes a big leveler of sorts!
Something that’ll most certainly fill your mundane day with a glimmer of positivity.
All government school children in the state of Rajasthan shall be provided with free uniforms and textbooks, as per a latest scheme that seems to have reformation at its heart.
So what is this all about and how come such a development come about?
Well, here’s what the NDTV had to say:
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday announced free uniforms and textbooks for government school students under the “Back to School programme” in the state budget 2021-22.
In his budget speech, Mr Gehlot said the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on school education and the entire academic year turned out to be a “zero year”.
“Back to School programme will be launched to bridge the gap of learning intervals of the students under which study material will be provided to the students and the students will be made comfortable towards classes,” the chief minister said.
Free school uniforms for government school students of the state up to class 8 and free books for class 6 to 8 students would be provided under the “Back to School programme” for which the state government will spend Rs 470 crore, he said.
Moving on from the news report, it’s not entirely hard to understand the impact of the government initiative. Just imagine the sheer number of students due to be covered by this very enthusiastic scheme. For instance, in the region of Jaipur alone, there are no fewer than 19 blocks in the nearby areas, for instance- Shahpura, Sanganer, Jhotwara, Dudugarh, Jamwa Ramgarh. Any idea just how many government schools might there be in all these regions?

And the scheme, as a matter or fact, looks to distribute free uniforms and textbooks to all of Rajasthan’s government school students, this however, was just a mention of regions surrounding Jaipur! Imagine the many precious lives in places as far as Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, that’ll now see the government school students being looked after by the very entity entrusted to look after the state of Rajasthan- the government itself! Brilliant news, isn’t it?
