1. Protesting Trinamool MPs Were Stopped By Special Protection Guards In Delhi!
On Thursday, the Trinamool Congress MPs were detained from near the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). They were carrying out a march towards PMO to protest the arrest of MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay. However, the MPs were stopped midway by the Special Protection Guards (SPG) and the Delhi Police. The forces detained them and packed them off in buses. The protesting MPs were shouting slogans like “Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao” during the March.
2. The Longest Bullet Train Is Launched!
On Thursday, China wrote history in the tech world as the country launched its longest bullet train “Shangri-la of the World”. The train will run from Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province to Beijing and will cover the high-speed network of 20,000 km. The train will cover the distance of 2,760-km that will be covered in about 13 hours connecting almost all provinces. The line from Kunming to Beijing is also the longest east-west high-speed railway in China.
3. Bangladesh Court Adjourns Former PM Khaleda Zia’s Graft Case Hearing.
On Thursday, Bangladeshi court adjourned the hearing of graft cases against former prime minister and BNP chief Khaleda Zia till 12 January. In 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against six including Zia and her son Tarique Rahman and they are alleged of embezzling 21 million Bangladeshi Taka from funds, which came from a foreign bank and were meant for the trust. Later in 2011, the BNP chief was sued by the anti-corruption watchdog for the embezzlement of 31.5 million Bangladeshi Taka of the Zia Charitable Trust. The charges on her can send her jail for life if found guilty.
4. Non-Bailable Warrant Issued Against Meghalaya MLA!
A court in Shillong issued a non-bailable warrant against Julius Kitbok Dorphang, an Independent legislator of Meghalaya who supports the ruling party after the MLA was booked for allegedly raping a 14-year old girl last month. Dorphang has been booked under several Sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act after the victim filed an FIR on 16 December. The minor girl was rescued from a guest house owned by a senior Meghalaya minister’s son. The victim named eight persons in her FIR out of which five people have been arrested. Dorphang has gone into hiding after a non-bailable warrant was issued by the Shillong court against him on Wednesday.
5. Market Gains Rising Heights At The Closing.
BSE benchmark Sensex closed at 26,847.75 after advancing up by 214.62 points at the end of Thursday trade. NSE’s Nifty also saw the rise of 66.55 points and closed on a positive note at 8,257.05. Indian Rupee continued strengthening as it gained 9 paise and came to 67.96 against the US Dollar.
