On Monday, a BSF Jawan was killed and three were injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops at Pargwal district of Akhnoor sector, Jammu&Kashmir. The Pakistani Rangers used mortar shellings along the Line Of Control (LOC) from the R.S Pura in the Suchetgarh sector to Pargwal in Akhnoor sector.
The deceased BSF jawan has been identified as Sushil Kumar of Kurukshetra District, Haryana. The other three injured consist of two civilian women and an Assistant Sub-Inspector. The ASI has been identified as R D Puri and the two women are Prakasho Devi of Gajansoo and Krishna Devi of Treva. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
This was the second killing of an Indian soldier in less than 24 hours as Gurnam Singh, who was instrumental in tackling an infiltration attempt by a terrorist group, from across the International Border into Bobian area of Hiranagar sector, was also injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Friday and died after fighting with his injuries on Sunday.
Pakistani Troops used heavy mortar bombs and automatic weapons to target 25 Border Outposts of the Indian Army and many other civilian villages along the International borders, in the late hours of Sunday evening. The cross-border fire is still underway.
The ceasefire initially started on Friday evening, in which seven Pakistani troops and a terrorist were killed after the retaliation of Indian Army and BSF outposts. There was a lull of 48 hours and the attack resumed on Sunday night.
The attack on the Indian outposts came within 12 hours of Additional Director General of BSF Arun Kumar’s warning to Pakistani Government, in which he assured a counter attack on Pakistani outposts.
According to the officials, the property and livestock were also vandalized. The civilians have shut themselves indoors and are waiting for the firing to stop.
