Laljibhai Patel, a Surat Based Businessman, who was rumoured to surrender Rs 6000 Crores of Black Money after the currency Demonetization by PM Narendra Modi led Government, has denied the news.
Here is what Lalji Bhai said:
“I received a message saying that I’m apparently surrendering Rs 6,000 crore. The message said I’m a builder. But I’m not a builder, I’m a diamond merchant and into import-export business. All these rumours are fake, please don’t believe these rumours”.
Rapidleaks also got a call from one of his representatives who confirmed Laljibhai Patel’s statement over the whole episode.
Laljibhai Patel is the seventh richest jeweller in India and has a net worth of $480 million. He has made it to several headlines and some of these are:
- He bought a suit worn by PM Modi for Rs 4.31 crore last year on which PM Modi’s name was woven with golden Pinstripes.
- Almost every year, his company gifts cars and flats to the employees as Diwali Bonus.
- He also donated Rs 200 Crores for the education of 1000 girls.
However, he is often confused with another Surat-Based businessman, Savji Dholakia.
This was another case of people being declassed due social media’s aggressiveness.
