India is in the middle of one of the biggest national transitions. Two years back when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India, a new wave of nationalism washed across the country. Now, two weeks ago he had shocked the whole nation and the entire world along with it when he announced the ban on old Rs 500 notes and Rs 1000 notes. There has been many such incidents that have changed the face of Indian politics over the time and our Bollywood being one of the most loved medias of infotainment has covered many of them brilliantly. Some of the movies on Indian Politics made by filmmakers were so twisted or enlighting that they have created chaos and some of them were simply made on great Indian Political leaders.

1. Kissa Kursi Ka ( 1977)
The movie was a satire on the politics of Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi. It was banned during the emergency period.
2. Garm Hava (1973)
The movie was based on a North Indian Muslim Businessman who deals with the dilemma of whether to move to Pakistan as many of his relatives or stay back after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948.
3. Shool (1999)
The movie was based on the criminalisation of politics in the state of Bihar and how it affected the life of an honest police officer.
4. Satta (2003)
The story of a wife of Delhi’s aspiring Chief Minister who witnesses the nexus between the underworld, businessmen, corrupt policemen, and politicians.
5. Sarkar (2005)
The movie is partially inspired by the life of Bal Thackeray, an Indian politician who founded the Shiv Sena.
6. Haasil (2003)
The plot of the movie is based on the student politics in the University of Allahabad.
7. Firaaq (2008)
The movie is based on 2002 violence in Gujarat and follows the life of the victims, observers, and some perpetrators.
8. Gulaal (2009)
It is a perspective based movie which follows the pursuit of power, the quest for legitimacy, perceived injustices, and hypocrisy of the powerful politicians.
9. Chakravyuh (2012)
The movie follows the issues of Naxalites.
10. Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005)
The movie revolves around the life of three teenagers and plot is set against the backdrop of the Indian Emergency.
11. Rakht Charitra (2010)
The movie was a biographical political thriller film based on the life of Paritala Ravindra.
12. Raajneeti (2010)
The movie was a political thriller drama, which exhibited the modern Mahabharata characters but there were lot of controversies about the plot resembling the real life characters.
