If you been following the recent trend-setters in the smartphone world, you might be aware of Oppo’s existence, which while not being a mainstream smartphone maker in the western parts of the world, is one of the biggest companies in countries like China and India, which has invariably challenged the dominance of Xiaomi.
After launching some of the best products from its stables, like the Oppo R11s and Oppo F5, the fifth largest smartphone maker in India, is gearing up for the launch of Oppo R13.
Just like any other device, Oppo R13 has also been subjected to a leak which has uncovered its design language and to much surprise, it looks exactly like Apple 10th anniversary iPhone, the iPhone X.
Yes, you read it right. Oppo R13, at least according to the leak, is going to be an iPhone X-clone and will come with features like full-screen display and the ‘Notch’ up-front. If you think that it is just a rumor without a base, keep in mind that the leak includes live images and Oppo has recently applied for a patent that includes both these features.
One might think how Oppo R13 will be able to don the iPhone X-avatar and that too when Apple’s most expensive iPhone to date is one hell of a benchmark-setter?
For the unknown, the last time we saw a Chinese company ‘copying’ Apple’s design theme, it turned out to be a rather successful device, at least on the sales chart. The device in question is the Coolpad Cool M7 that borrowed its looks from the iPhone 7 and if you look at both these handsets side by side, there is nothing to differentiate apart from the company’s logo at the rear panel.
However, doing an iPhone X will not be an easy task for Oppo R13 as the former comes with a price tag above the Rs 1 Lakh-mark and people are not going gaga over the 10th Anniversary iPhone for just the looks. From FaceID to wireless charging from ‘Notch’ to the A11 Six-core Bionic Processor, there are many firsts for the ‘X’.
Not only does the reported Oppo R13 will ship with a vertical dual camera setup on the rear, the video also hints towards the iPhone X’s awkward notch up-front. Although, due to the black background, it’s difficult to figure out the notch here, the way battery and notification indicators have been aligned sort of gives it away.
Also, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Oppo R13 comes with some sort of depth sensing module like the Face ID for unlocking the smartphone as the leak didn’t reveal any fingerprint sensor, neither at the rear nor at the front.
Leaving the copied-design aside, we do admit that the all-black paint-job coupled with a neon green Oppo logo at the rear looks really cool and should the device roll out as it is, it definitely holds the potential of huge sales figures as Oppo will definitely price the R13 way more competitively.
Apart from that, no other information about the Oppo R13 is available as of now but considering all the recent launched from the company, one can safely expect it to be one hell of an all-rounder with a cheaper price tag.
For the unknown, Oppo, which is also the parent company of OnePlus, has already written a success story with this approach as the Oppo R11 (which comes with an iPhone 7 Plus-like design) and the OnePlus 5 share the same inspiration while the Oppo R11s and newly-launched OnePLus 5T look identical.
