Here’s A Toilet Roll Company You Didn’t Know About That’s Using Tree-Free Paper

Among the biggest woes of the world, in addition to a long list of health anomalies, is sanitation. More people, researchers suggest, own a mobile phone but not a toilet. Sanitation continues to feature in the list of dreaded conditions that are as harmful as to be causing loss of human lives.

While at the first instance, this might read strange, even absurd, there are facts that tell the real plight of the problem. It is believed, that as many as 800 children, under the age of five, die each day owing to health problems related to poor sanitation. And this is the beginning. The real problem is actually a catastrophe of sorts. 2.3 billion people on planet earth do not have access to a toilet. The fact is blaring and true and the problem- simple; there’s no excess to a toilet.

But that’s not all. The real problem stems from a simple backyard fact. More and more trees are cut each year. The reason is to simply cater to a mighty production of toilet-paper roll. Each year, every single day, week after week, month after month, the scenario involves using tree paper to make toilet rolls.

Who Gives A Crap
In here jumps an Australian company – Who Gives A Crap- that engages in toilet paper roll and tissue production in a different way. But just how is it contributing to easing out the tensions related to worldwide sanitation problems? Who Gives A Crap donates 50 percent of its profits to charities worldwide that are involved in the production of toilets. Moreover, its charitable cause also caters to helping the said not for profits to improve sanitation conditions in developing countries.

Interesting it is to note that a remarkably funny name for a full-fledged business is actually contributing to such a vital cause of our times, isn’t it? On a serious note, what’s of paramount importance is to note the real essence of Who Gives A Crap’s business. The Australian company does not use inks, dyes, scents and these are tree-free. Therefore, in a simple, conscientious stroke of formulation, it’s saving the environment a great deal.

The basis of its process of production is such that, so far, Who Gives A Crap, has used materials that have directly contributed to saving around 50,586 trees and that’s not all, even saved a humungous quantity of water- 98, 465, 965 litres of water. And just, wait a sec! In case you were trying to wrap your brains around this gigantic figure, it is about the size of 39 Olympic-size swimming pools.

Instead of direct marketing or operating from the market space, this brilliant Australian company sells online to customers and delivers around several thousand boxes to customers around the world. It’s quite simply astounding and a tad bit surprising to note that just how much of a difference can a simply conscientious business create in a world constantly flummoxed by a seemingly endless tirade of environmental concerns.

But if you thought about it you’d find that if a single company can bring about such massive difference, one wonders, how much of a change can other companies- arguably in a similar business line or production process- can bring? Till date, Who Gives A Crap has donated around A$1,175,000 (£663,600) to its charity partners, including Sanergy and WaterAid.

Perhaps, time is just right for other companies to stop thinking the way they’ve been in their complete avoidance of measures that can lead to a seachange in sanitation problems. Perhaps, it’s time for them to stop giving a crap and follow the ways of Who Gives A Crap. The Australian company is indeed magnificent and deserves all the credit coming its way.
