Adele’s Drastic Weight Loss Secret Is The New Sirtfood Diet

Every now and then we’re introduced to a new diet that gets people going. From juice cleanse to intermittent fasting to going gluten-free, there is so much experimentation in diets that it becomes a task in itself to keep up with the changes. The newest addition to a plethora of diets in the market is the Sirtfood Diet.

This is the same diet that has helped Adele go through one of this decade’s most awe aspiring transformations.

However, we need to understand if this is just another fad or something more life-altering and substantial, like Veganism. At least that’s what is believed. The creators of Sirtfood Diet have admitted that this is not another fad, but rather a secret to unlock fat loss while preventing any disease on the way.

Let’s understand more about the same.

What Is The Sirtfood Diet?

Creating a calorie deficit either by increasing your calorie burn through workouts or decreasing your caloric intake is the key to losing weight at its core. But the sirtfood diet could potentially lose weight without the need for drastic calorie restriction or exercise. Adding healthy sirtfoods to your diet is the way to do it.

Sirtfoods are rich in polyphenols, which are found largely in fruits, vegetables, and cereals and are naturally occurring. These polyphenols cause sirtuins which is a family of proteins that plays a key role in cell growth which are used to activate a pathway that switches on your body’s fat-burning powers.

What Are Sirtfood Diet Foods?

These are some examples of sirtfoods:

  • Buckwheat
  • Arugula
  • Chillies
  • Coffee
  • Green tea
  • Medjool dates
  • Red wine
  • Turmeric
  • Walnuts
  • Cocoa
  • Red onions
  • Parsley
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Kale
  • Red chicory

What Does The Sirtfood Diet Entail?

This is a 2-phase diet. It restricts calories to 1,000 per day, consisting of three green juices and one sirtfood-approved meal in phase one of the first three days and the last seven days. The daily allotment is increased to 1,500 calories per day with an addition of two green juices and two meals on days four to seven. Phase two is a 14-day maintenance plan that focuses more on well-balanced meals and sensible portions rather than just calories.

The founders encourage followers to think of it as a way of life even though the sirtfood diet brands itself as a diet. They recommend continuing to eat a diet filled with sirtfoods and drinking a daily green juice after the first three weeks of the starting of the diet.

Sirtfood Diet’s Benefits

You are going to lose weight if you follow this diet properly. Whether you’re eating 1,000 calories of tacos, 1,000 calories of kale, or 1,000 calories of noodles, you will lose weight at 1,000 calories for sure! But the creators also point out that you can have success with a more reasonable calorie deficit.

The typical daily caloric intake of someone not on a calorie deficit diet is 2,000 to 2,200, so decreasing it to 1,500 is still restricting and would be an effective weight loss journey for most.

Drawbacks Of The Sirtfood Diet

The plan is strict with little wiggle room or making substitutions and it is difficult to adhere to long term, as weight loss can only be maintained if the low caloric intake is also maintained. That means any weight you lose in the first seven days is likely to be gained back after you finish the diet.

Another drawback of the sirtfood diet is that limiting protein intake with juices will result in a loss of muscle mass which is synonymous with dropping your metabolic rate or metabolism drastically, making weight maintenance more difficult.

Final Thoughts

No matter how fun and effective the diet sounds, experts would not recommend the sirtfood diet. There are other ways that you can reduce calorie intake without being so restrictive in the foods that you are going to eat during the diet. The diet is not necessarily unhealthy so it is not necessarily cautioned against if a patient found success. However, if someone balances it all with an active lifestyle and some form of exercising every day, then the results can be more substantial than just a quick fix.
