These Home Remedies Will Help Relieve Sores In Your Mouth(Treatment For Aphthae Ulcers)

Aphthae Ulcers can be quite uncomfortable and painful. The term comes from the Greek word ‘Aphthae’ means ‘inflame’ and stands for a small ulcer of the oral mucosa. The areas of skin on the mucous membrane or tongue on which the ulcers form are, however, bright red. It is the most common non-contagious oral inflammatory disease. The approximately lenticular-sized inflammations come either individually or in groups that may be up to six ulcers at the same time. Small, painful blisters in the mouth are uncomfortable and should therefore heal as quickly as possible. Home remedies for mouth sores such as turmeric or coriander can help to make the ulcers on the tongue, inside of cheeks or lip disappear more quickly.

You Should Avoid This With Mouth Ulcers

Acidic foods like citrus fruits or pineapple can increase inflammation of the lining of the mouth. The acid irritates the sensitive skin too much. Spicy and hot food or drinks can also make the symptoms worse.

Hard foods such as crispbread, crispy cereals, or nuts can also mechanically irritate the inflamed areas, which can also prevent the ulcers from healing. Cool and soft foods like yogurt help reduce pain and facilitate healing. Alcohol has an irritant effect on mucous membranes and should be consumed with caution. It can even be a trigger for these ulcers.

Medication, Home Remedies, And Treatment For Aphthous Ulcers – Home Remedies For Mouth Sores

Aphthae ulcers can occur between three and six times a year. Usually, the inflammation heals on its own after one to three weeks. You can treat aphthous ulcers symptomatically with a pain reliever. Such preparations with the active ingredient lidocaine or lidocaine hydrochloride numb the painful areas.

These are available over the counter in pharmacies as gels, sprays, or mouthwashes. Experts also recommend prescription oral sprays or wound healing gels but see a doctor first. Mouthwashes with strong chamomile and sage teas can also help relieve pain and improve wound healing.

Turmeric And Coriander For The Treatment For Aphthous Ulcers

Mix turmeric and honey, then carefully apply to the blister and let it work for around a quarter of an hour. This has an antibacterial effect. Another tip is to bring the coriander leaves and seeds to the boil and rinse your mouth with this brew for around three minutes. A rinse made from tea tree oil and water also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Possible causes of ulcers include stress, a weakened immune system, and minor injuries like if you slip with the brush while brushing your teeth, it might cause ulcers. If the blisters always appear after consuming certain foods, you should avoid them.

Blisters Usually Go Away After A Week

Most ulcers heal on their own in about a week. If the symptoms persist, you should see a doctor. If they develop frequently, it is advisable to get a medical examination before starting the treatment for aphthous ulcers. Even if the ulcers usually have no pathological cause, certain underlying diseases can be the trigger in individual cases. This can be due to either a herpes infection, hand-mouth-foot disease, or even severe colon inflammation. However, mouth ulcers may also be an indication of folic acid, iron, zinc, or vitamin B12 deficiency.
