Red or green apples, while some simply choose their favorite variety according to taste, others wonder what exactly is the difference. In fact, some types of color contain more nutrients than others. Let’s find out which one is healthier.

The Red Apple Provides More Vitamins

As a healthy snack in between, in breakfast cereal or cake, the apple is one of the most popular fruits. Their popularity is further increased by the saying ’An apple a day, keeps the doctor away’. There are various types of apples and they have different colors but do they differ not only in taste but also in nutrient content?

In general, apples are healthy because they provide lots of fiber and reduce the risk of colorectal cancer with the help of flavonoids they contain. There is no difference between red, yellow, and green apples, in terms of flavonoids.

However, the nutrient anthocyanin, which gives color to the skin of the red apple, is particularly health-promoting. It keeps our blood vessels healthy. Yellow apples, on the other hand, contain a lot of carotenes, which can have a positive effect on the eyes.

When it comes to vitamin delivery, red apples are also found to be better. A direct comparison shows that a red apple variety such as Braeburn contains around 24 to 35 milligrams of vitamin C, while the green variety called Granny Smith provides just four milligrams.

Peppers are available in the traffic light colors. You can find red, yellow, green, and even orange peppers in the supermarket. These different colors indicate the degree of ripeness of the fruit. When unripe, all peppers are green and when they start to ripen, they first turn yellow and then orange. After all, ripe peppers are red and also significantly sweeter than green peppers.

Since the vitamin C content of the bell peppers increases with maturity, the red pepper is the healthiest option. Red pepper contains almost as much vitamin C as two whole lemons. But the other colors of the peppers are also healthy as they are low in calories as well as in fat. They contain vitamins A, B, and C and important antioxidants such as flavonoids and carotenoids.

Green Tea or Black Tea

Both the teas are made from the same tea plant, but they differ in their production. For green tea, the leaves are only dried and not treated any further. In order to produce black tea, the tea leaves must also be rolled and crushed.

The leaves react with oxygen and their dark color and the different taste of the tea forms.
