Of all the people who serve a country and that too from a venerable seat of the nation, connected directly with the well being of that particular nation, the PM should- at least- not be spared of criticism. He or she must be levelled criticism against in the advent of something strange and some phenomenon that does beckon some critiquing.
This isn’t some wisespeak! But rather is just how democracies should be run and governments be made to function.
Where even as there’s a strong and visible gap between the commoners and the political and leadership elite entrusted with the task of running the show, there boundaries blur when judgement must be reserved for an ignorant act.
Or something like it!
And in what can be called something like an ignorant act on her part, it clearly appears that Finnish PM Sanna Marin, among the most respected political leaders in the world at the moment, has earned criticism back in her country.
But then, like always, with critiques or arguments being based on strong need of logic in the developed west, there’s a reason as to why the 36-year-old Finnish PM was subjected to public scrutiny on the basis of her recent action. Something had happened that beckoned such a strong response from the end of the public.
So what was it?
Last Saturday night, which was December 4, 2021, Sanna Marin failed to return from the very bar, where a close minister in her cabinet, namely Pekka Havisto had been present. Havisto had recently developed COVID 19 and the two, until a day earlier, had been in close contact.
Therefore, the talk about criticism leveled against the Finnish PM stems from the fact that it was an ignorant action on her part that could so easily have seen the virus spread onto others that is making news. And perhaps, rightly so!
This certainly was breakage of COVID rules in a very direct way for instead of self quarantining, Sanna Marin was present out, in the open, amid the public.
Meanwhile, having said that the following is what news platform Bloomberg had to say:
Marin, who is fully vaccinated, said she had not received instructions to isolate, prompting critics to counter that such instructions shouldn’t have to be given to a person in charge of efforts to combat the virus and that the behavior sets an example to the population on how to behave. Marin has since tested negative twice.
The prime minister broke no official rules on isolation, as Finnish authorities do not routinely quarantine fully vaccinated individuals, even though they can still transmit Covid. Still, with the misstep she joins a growing list of policy makers disregarding Covid guidance.
