In What Be Called A Major Fiasco, Germany Forgot To Inform 949 Travellers They Had Coronavirus

There are always some strange or weird pieces of news every day that confuse us about the world we cohabit. It makes us wonder whether rationality has gone for a toss outside the window or something like that!

In what can be safely called the strangest piece of information coming from Germany all this while, the government of the Angela Merkel land recently forgot to inform no fewer than 949 people about them having the Coronavirus.

Read that right, did you? Make no mistake! There are oddities that happen all the time and then there’s something like this blunder committed in Germany recently which would only induce something like a face-palm expression, don’t you think?

A sort of development that may not exactly leave Germany very proud, the state of Bavaria, one of the finest and most commonly-visited parts in all of Deutschland, confessed that while it was able to track down 949 travellers to Germany, who it failed to inform about their testing positive for the Coronavirus.

The incident has actually shocked the possible-successor to Ms. Angela Merkel, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.

A quick excerpt from the NBC news network, part of an article on the said development stated the following:

The tests had been carried out up to two weeks ago at special centers that were opened with great fanfare in the southern state, but problems with data entry meant that the travelers had been waiting for their test results for days.

Bavaria’s state premier, Markus Soeder, apologized for the problems Thursday, promising to fix the mistakes by adding extra staff. He also said he supported his health minister, who had offered to resign.

In an official statement published in the public domain, the state of Bavaria also shared that, it had found no fewer than 903 of the 949 people who had tested positive out of the massive lot of 44,000 travellers who were returning to the country. But having said that, so far, the state was not able to locate the remainder of the lot, i.e., 46 more individuals.

As a matter of fact, a little over a month ago, the German state of Bavaria, home to some of the most wonderful tourist sites had made it compulsory for all airports to conduct free COVID-19 tests.

This was part of a government-driven measure to control the number of COVID-19 cases. But other than that, Germany has been credited for its reasonable success to keep the overall count of cases under check, with many raving about the versatile healthcare system that enabled the country to punch above its weight during the most testing period.

However, all of that being said, it can’t be ignored that there’s a growing concern for the rest of the continent with regards to what’s being feared as being the second-wave of the Coronavirus cases, a situation that’s puzzled nations like Italy, France, Belgium, among others.

The need to be cautious and act with reason has never been as relevant or exceedingly important as now, it must be said. May better times prevail for all of us!
