49 Confirmed Deaths In New York Due To Massive Flooding!

We are in an age where there are those who believe in climate change, those who do not and then, there’s, of course, Climate Change, itself. That being said, what hurts and constantly so is that how little is still being done in regards to address an issue that’s no less than a great nadir of our times. Furthermore, the time to deny climate change treating it as an issue that does not need any addressing or, at least, not as of now is gone. Long gone. Cannot be done like that. Take the case of New York for an example.

On account of massive floods that have taken up mainstream New York resulting in no fewer than 49 confirmed deaths, this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed and, at least, given more emphasis to, as of now.

So where America stands at this point in time, then there are no fewer than six different states, all of them on the East cost of the USA, have been affected due to the massive floods. These states include- New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Connecticut, Maryland and, of course, the state that we all love and have loved all these years as the ‘Big Apple!’

You instantly know that a situation is not right when there’s a state of emergency declared in an entire city and that’s pretty much what happened where the occurrences of the last 48 hours are concerned.

All lines shut to enter, if not leave the city, all workplaces closed, the inclement weather ceasing total control over the course of the city and whatnot! The Hurricane Ida has extolled upon a city that not just Americans but the world loves, no wonder among the top global cities of the world is nothing but nature’s fury.

Nothing’s going right regardless of where you see things from- from a bird’s eye view or from the vantage point. New York is under the severity of pressure of that thing called Climate Change.

In order to understand what the exactness of the present situation is in one of the lifelines of America, a hub of American corporate establishment, one needs to understand what the local media back in the USA are saying. And the following insights came to life from a noted American publication:

Dozens have died in six Eastern states — Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia — after the storm brought unprecedented rainfall to some areas. The death toll included a state trooper in Connecticut who was swept away as he responded to a missing person’s call.

The remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped ‘historic rain’ over New York City as basement apartments suddenly filled with water and freeways and boulevards turned into rivers, submerging cars.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio described the flooding and weather on Wednesday night as a “historic weather event,” and the National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency in New York City for the first time.

To sum it up, at a time where much of the world is fighting hard to stay afloat from the COVID virus, this isn’t the best development to note, truth be told. May better times prevail for a city that one loves a lot.
