To experience everything in one vacation, we bring to you the things to do in Ireland

Why Ireland? Well, Only because it is the most beautiful and green place on earth and that is not an exaggeration. Today we will take a look at the reasons to visit Ireland and also list the things to do in Ireland.

Ireland is the land of giants, saints, music and fairy tales. Even the name indicates the traditional color of the Irish, ‘Ireland’ comes from the Celtic word ‘Erin’, which means ‘grassland’. Anyone who has the chance to be in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, will find (almost) everything colored green on this day, even the rivers are dyed green. That is one adventure that you can attend amongst other things to do in Ireland if you are there on St. Patrick’s Day.

1. Dublin

Every journey through Ireland begins and ends in Dublin. It is ‘The perfect Place’ to begin with the list of things to do in Ireland. Ireland’s capital has so many beautiful and historic landmarks that they alone could fill the list. If you would like to learn more about the history of Ireland, you should visit Kilmainham Gaol, the prison where the political prisoners of the Easter Rising were shot.

The most famous college in Ireland, Trinity College has the most beautiful library in the world. Never thought you would fall in love with a library? Well, think again. The library at Trinity College has extremely rare and old books, spiral staircases and 65 meter hall. Do you smell Hogwarts?

Ireland

Near Trinity college, you will see Dublin’s most famous shopping street, Grafton Street. At the end of Grafton Street is St Stephen’s Green Park. Take a little break, have a coffee, sit on one of the many benches and enjoy the sun, it’s always worth it.

Also worth a visit is the Guinness Storehouse where you can learn all about the history and making of Ireland’s most famous beer. Up in the tower you can expect a beautiful panoramic view of Dublin, of course with a glass of Guinness in your hand.

2. River Liffey at night

The Ha’penny Bridge – a beautiful bridge on the River Liffey that celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2016, gets its name from the amount of toll, the pedestrians between 1816 and 1916 had to pay I.e. a penny.

Rest and relax at the Phoenix Park , which is not only one of the largest inner-city parks in the world, but also includes the Dublin Zoo. We could list many more points, but the rest of Ireland also has many beautiful places to offer.

3. Glendalough

Wikipedia

Next stop is in the middle of a lonely valley with two dark lakes, the former monastic settlement Glendalough. The 33-meter-high round tower and the many well-preserved remains of the monastery founded in the 7th century. Hikers will get their money’s worth around Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains.

4. Cliffs of Moher

Independent

Most Tourists keep this place at the top in their itinerary of things to do in Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher drop steeply into the Atlantic for about 200 meters over a distance of 7.5 km and offer a unique spectacle of nature to the ever increasing number of visitors. Every year, more than 1 million visitors marvel at the view of the rough rocks. The cliffs may seem familiar as they were the location of the sixth Harry Potter movie(Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince).

5. The Burren

Ireland

This is one of the best things to do in Ireland, if you love clicking pictures. The Cliffs of Moher extend to the Burren. The stony karst plateau is criss-crossed by crevices. A hike through the Burren is an adventure for flower lovers, because although the landscape appears dry and arid, flowers grow here, which are otherwise more likely to be found in the Alps.

Underneath the surface are extensive cave systems and rivers. Among other things, you can visit the Bear Cave in Ballyvaughan. It is certainly the world’s best place to click photos and a must do on the list of things to do in Ireland.

6. Newgrange

All that’s interesting

In the beautiful Boyne Valley, west of Drogheda, is the most famous passage grave in Ireland. Newgrange was probably around 3200 BC. Being completely restored in 1962, it has been a registered World Heritage Site since 1993.

In a guided tour through the tomb, which is 19 meters long, one loses the feeling of space and time. Particularly impressive is the viewing sunrise at the winter solstice. It’s another great thing to do in Ireland but not suggested for people with claustrophobia.

7. Ring of Kerry

Wilderness Ireland

Another ‘must do’ in the list of things to do in Ireland, The Ring of Kerry, a circular road that runs around the Iveragh peninsula, is one of Ireland’s finest tourist attractions. A good two-thirds of the 179 km long route leads along the Atlantic Ocean and offers magnificent views.

Outside the Ring of Kerry, there is a small island that has recently become very famous and should be known to any movie fan right away. The island Skellig Michael is the home of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Awakening of Power. If you want to visit the island, then be early, because only about 180 visitors are allowed daily on this small island. Plan it well in advance if you wish visit Skellig Michael as it is one of the best amongst the things to do in Ireland.

8. Dingle Peninsula

Evoke

The Dingle Peninsula stands for a beautiful landscape, for many varied recreational opportunities and long sandy beaches. Golf courses, hiking tours, bike trips and much more are offered here. The Ring of Dingle is considered the little brother of the Ring of Kerry and offers like this beautiful scenery along the coastal road.

A special attraction, however, is a boat trip to the dolphin ‘Fungie’, probably the most famous inhabitants of the peninsula. Fungi “moved” to Dingle in 1984. Fungie is not afraid of swimmers and has been the hero of poetry and television documentary for years.

9. Giant’s Causeway

Getyourguide

Not really in Ireland, but still on the island and worth seeing, it lies, the ‘dam of the giants’. This spectacular coastal landscape near the Northern Irish town of Derry has been a World Heritage Site since 1987. Over 37,000 different basalt columns with a six- to ten-angled shape can be found here.

Formed about 60 million years ago from volcanoes, the columns blend into each other like steps and drop off towards the sea. Legend has it that the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill has built a way to compete with an adversary from Scotland. A really good story that you can listen to in the tourist center.

10. Blarney Castle

Tales of a backpacker

The former wooden castle is located north of Cork and possesses the stone of the language versatility. Who kisses this stone (according to legend), receives the gift of free speech. Anyone who grins in disbelief, should definitely visit Blarney Castle and see how many people are lined up to kiss this stone. It is a great place to be because that is what Ireland is about – The stories. These stories are an integral part of things to do in Ireland and will only add to your adventure.
