Only LG Could Do It: The New Wing Smartphone Has A Second Display

The mobile phone manufacturers are currently busy experimenting with everything that can be done with displays like folding, flapping, or even bending and LG now believes it has got the hang of it. Let’s find more about what LG has achieved to claim something like that. Here’s all the information about LG Wing, the new multi-display smartphone from LG.

The technology group LG has presented a smartphone with a rotatable main screen. In the LG Wing model, the 6.3-inch POLED display can be rotated 90 degrees lengthways.

The device then releases another, an almost square 3.9-inch display at the bottom. It is intended to open up new operating options like for controlling the camera, videos, or video recordings which can be viewed on the main screen in full-screen format.

In addition, the controls of other apps running on the main screen should be able to be moved down to the secondary display within the T-display arrangement. There is also the option of running separate apps on both displays.

Apps Also Run In Pairs

LG cites as examples here, while the video playback or the use of a navigation app on the main screen to answer messages on the second display or to control the music playback. If you regularly use the same apps in parallel, you can create so-called multi-apps shortcuts in order to be able to open the favorite app pairings with just one tap.

The selfie camera (32 megapixels) is designed as a pop-up module and pops out of the housing if necessary. For the main camera, LG uses a 64-megapixel sensor, which is supplemented by a 13 MP sensor with a wide-angle lens and a 12 MP sensor with image stabilization. The latter records videos in the so-called gimbal mode, which should be particularly fluid, sharp, and wobble-free.

Dual Recording From Two Sides

Recording simultaneously from the main and selfie camera is also possible. The two differently recorded videos can either be merged into a single video or be saved as two separate files with an aspect ratio of 1: 1 or 16: 9. The LG Wing smartphone can record 4K videos at up to 60 fps (frames per second).

As a processor, LG uses the 5G-capable Snapdragon 765G mid-range chip, which is supported by 8 gigabytes (GB) of RAM. The 4,000 mAH battery can be charged quickly with a 25 watts charger and wirelessly with up to 12 watts of power.

The LG wing is quite a chubby phone. The two displays make it almost 1.1 centimeters thick and it weighs 260 grams. The housing is dust and splash-proof according to IP54, the fingerprint sensor is housed in the display. The LG wing is speculated to hit the Indian market in December. It might be priced around Rs.90000 and will be available in black, gray, and white colors.
