On the other hand, when it comes the entry-level segment, the competition is much worse than in the mid-budget category as users are looking for the best by spending the least. Keeping that in mind and considering how other players have been coming up with some of the best VFM devices, here comes Kult, another Indian smartphone maker, with the Kult Ambition.

Kult Ambition Review (First Impressions)

• The stock Android has to be the biggest advantage of Kult Ambition as the OS in its purest form has been a rarity of sorts in this segment.

• Focusing on practicality, Kult has given a dedicated microSD slot for the Ambition.

• The 5-inch display offers benchmark details and brightness levels, and while multimedia consumption outdoors can’t be termed perfect, we can expect nothing more from a device in this range. Viewing angles are also up to the mark and we really like how crisp and sharp the output is.

• Thanks to the curved edges and a metal built, the Kult Ambition is easy to operate even with one hand. Moreover, if we keep that absurd camera module peaking out, the overall built in itself is good, if not any different from the competition.

• Talking about the camera, while the LED Flash helps the front sensor under low-lighting conditions, to some extent, it still gets a little grainy if used with unstable hands, thanks to no OIS. The front camera, on the other hand, offers great detailing and color production but while zooming in, pixels tend to disperse, especially in video mode.

• Entry-level smartphones were never for performance seeking users and Kult Ambition hasn’t changed this rule but it does handle heavy games and multitasking duties well, thanks to the 3GB RAM which completely complements the MediaTek MT6737 processor.

Is Kult Ambition better than Xiaomi Redmi 5A?

If it hasn’t been for the 2600 mAh battery which doesn’t come with fast charging support, we would have said that the Kult Ambition is the perfect Indian answer to the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, if not better. However, it’s the whole package that sells in this segment and if you can compromise on the battery backup in favor of 3GB RAM, a decent processor (5A has a better one) and stock Android, Kult Ambition does deserve a chance.
