iPhone SE 2 To Come With The Classic Design But Improved Internals

We have already heard a hell lot of rumors about the Apple iPhone SE 2 which is said to be launched later this year. However, ever since Ming Chi-Kuo, a noted analyst from KGI Securities hinted that Apple’s mid-ranger might not see the light of the day this year, not much has been revealed about the iPhone SE 2.

However, the smartphone is again in news and from what we can decipher, the iPhone SE 2 is not dead yet.

For the unknown, there were reports that Apple might not launch the SE 2 and will go for an iPhone X SE having an LCD panel, however, new reports from China suggest that the handset could debut at WWDC 2018 with the same design but better internals.

The iPhone SE successor is claimed to be launched with fresh specifications which include an A10 SoC as well as a 4.2-inch display as compared to the A9-powered original model which debuted with a 4-inch IPS display. According to earlier reports, the next affordable iPhone might not come with 3D sensing features and wireless charging support, which were two of the biggest highlights of the iPhone X and the iPhone-duo. That said, the iPhone SE 2 is expected to be powered by iOS 12 out-of-the-box.

According to MacRumors, the recent leak came from Chinese news website QQ.com which suggested new iPhone SE 2 will not come with an edge-to-edge display similar the iPhone X and the smartphone will stick to the metal back as well as frame along with a home button on the front under the 4.2-inch screen.

However, it will be interesting to see how Apple will give 0.2-inch of more real estate by keeping the dimensions of the smartphone similar to its predecessors. While the smartphone manufacturer is likely to reduce the size of the bezels the screen resolution is expected to remain the same in the iPhone SE 2.

MacRumors also reported that the iPhone SE 2 will feature the A10 Fusion chip, 2GB RAM with 32GB or 128GB storage. Apple iPhone SE is a budget smartphone, and it is highly likely that if its successor is launched, it will also have a similar pricing.

That said, according to an earlier report by Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple’s supply chain might not even allow the production of iPhone SE 2 and the tech giant is likely to concentrate launching the three iPhone X variants in 2018. According to Kuo’s note, Apple will be an iPhone X, iPhone X Plus with a 6.2-inch display as well as a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display.

Coming back to the iPhone SE 2, all these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt as there hasn’t been an official announcement from the company itself and several reports have already stated that the smartphone might not even exist.

Apple iPhone SE was first launched in March, 2016 and if there is a second variant, its launch at WWDC 2018 looks highly unlikely.
