Transfer deadline day is over, almost, and before the clock rang a bell, clubs went on doing business with a spree of new signings which has left football fans in shock, while there are some signings that have proved earlier rumors true.
Before going down with the transfer deadline day round-up, we just wanted to tell our readers that Atletico Madrid and Barcelona still have a chance to go for their respective targets of the summer transfer window, but we are going to shed some light on that, later on.
So, without further adieu, let’s take a look at the biggest signings of the transfer deadline day.
Kylian Mbappe to PSG
Perhaps one the most talks about players of the summer finally made a move with Paris Saint Germain as the Ligue 1 club signed the teenage sensation on a loan from Monaco. The deal also includes an obligation for PSG to sign him for around £160 million next summer and considering that PSG is looking to make it big in the Champions League as well, the duo of Neymar and Mbappe is the perfect step on the path.
Oxlade Chamberlain to Liverpool
As for the Premier League, Oxlade Chamberlain’s transfer from Arsenal to Liverpool caught everyone’s eye. After Chamberlain rejected a move to Chelsea, the Reds moved in and signed him on a £35million deal. With less than 12 months left on his contract, it was too good an offer for Arsenal to refuse. Oxlade-Chamberlain holds 27 caps for England, scoring six goals, and will be involved in Friday’s World Cup qualifier between England and Malta in Ta’Qali.
As for his 2016/17 season in the Premier League, Oxlade Chamberlain appeared 29 times for Arsenal while starting for the club 17 times and scoring 2 goals.
Serge Aurier to Tottenham
After months of speculation, Tottenham Hotspur finally secured the signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s fullback Serge Aurier. Center Backs Juan Foyth and Davison Sanchez will be joined by Serge Aurier, who has signed for the London Club for a reported £23 million.
Fernando Llorente to Tottenham
Fernando Llorente has been brought to North London to add experience to Tottenham’s frontline, however, the Spanish striker was earlier linked with Chelsea for most of the summer transfer window, but he ended up in Tottenham for a fee of around £12m.
Fernando Llorente scored 15 Premier League goals for Swansea last season and comes with a wealth of experience from stints at Athletic Bilbao, Juventus, and Sevilla.
Wilfried Bony to Swansea
Llorente’s departure was covered with former Swansea striker Bony, who returns to the Liberty Stadium after a two-and-a-half-years long stint with Manchester City. He cost around £12m.
Renato Sanches to Swansea
This is perhaps one of the biggest shocking moves in the Premier League as Renato Sanches is considered the most exciting young players in Europe and after moving to Bayern Munich followed by a tripping performance in Euro 2016, Sanches now finds himself in South Wales on a loan.
Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea
Drinkwater, who an instrumental asset for Leicester in their remarkable title triumph in 2015-16, has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, for a reported £30million. The 27-year-old joins Antonio Conte’s squad having made 218 appearances for Leicester in all competitions and scoring 14 goals after being signed from Manchester United in 2012.
These are the biggest signing of the transfer deadline day but the action is not over yet as the Spanish transfer deadline day will end on Friday at 11 pm, giving Barcelona and Atletico Madrid a chance to signing their prime targets of the window, Liverpool’s superstar Philippe Coutinho and discarded Chelsea striker Diego Costa, respectively.
