Manchester City is out of La Liga championship as they failed to reach their first Champions League final after a disappointing performance in semi-final second-leg. The 10-time winner Real Madrid defeated City as they played an inspiring game.
The first leg was a goalless draw between the teams but in second-leg Madrid took the lead and Gareth Bale deflected off City’s Fernando.
Fernandinho clipped the post in a rare City chance but Madrid dominated as Bale hit the bar and Joe Hart saved it from Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric. The Madrid team knew that they were only one goal away from winning the semi-final. With the encouragement of 4,500 supporters in the game they eliminated City from the game.
In the closing minutes of the game, Sergio Aguero’s speculative effort flew on to the roof of the goal but Madrid was able to stop Sergio. This was the only moment of concern in the game.
After a convincing 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid will now face Atletico on May 28 for European soccer’s biggest prize. It will be a rematch of 2014 which Real won 4-1 after extra-time.
