Manchester City Willing to Spend £100 Million for Lionel Messi

Manchester city is willing to pay £100 million to land Lionel Messi on their side and the winter transfer window is now in full swing. As expected, this transfer window is gushing out some of the most heart stopping rumors.

While there is an uncertainty of Lionel Messi’s contract extension with Barcelona as the club has been successful to keep the development under covers, rumors are suggesting that Barcelona’s darling can move elsewhere in this transfer season, however, unlikely it may sound.

After Neymar and Luis Suarez recently signed a new contract with Barcelona, Lionel Messi was expected to sign his new contract with the club but the Argentine has been holding back and the club even admitted that they are not able to meet Messi’s current contract demands.

Pep Guardiola recent tenure at Manchester City has not been the same as was seen with Barcelona and the former club is looking to reunite Lionel Messi with his old boss at a cost of £100 million.

Manchester City’s desperation is a clear sign that Pep Guardiola’s plans and tactics are not showing the magical results like before and the club’s recent 4-0 hammering by Everton, is more than a proof for that.

The Sun has reported that at the end of last month, representatives of both clubs met to determine whether this world-record transfer is possible. However, no official bid was made by Manchester City for the five time Ballon d’Or winner.

The report further stated that Manchester City had no second thoughts about making Lionel Messi the highest paid footballer in the world, which means that the club is not afraid of topping the global high of £89m that was paid to Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer.

Though it sounds impossible but Pep Guardiola’s presence in Manchester City may prove fruitful for the club and we may see Lionel Messi in a new jersey. Personally, the move will be hard to digest but the £800,000 weekly salary offered by Manchester City has made matters worse for Barcelona.
