Leicester City 3-1 Liverpool, the final tally showed what the reigning EPL Champions are capable of when they are in-form. A thumping victory over a team that stands at No.5 in this year’s league tally has taken them to new skies but Leicester City being the defending champions and No.17 this year, they have several other hurdles to go by, as of now.
However, Jamie Vardy’s double (28’ and 60’) and Drinkwater’s 39th minute shot for glory made sure that Foxes remain in the competition and after losing five consecutive top-flight under former manager Claudio Ranieri, who was sacked midweek, this 3-1 victory over one of the top contenders, Liverpool, will definitely give a boost to the managerless team.
As for Liverpool, their dreadful form in 2017 continued during this game. After being knocked out from every other major title run, all Jurgen Klopp has is the English Premier League. Moreover, despite the only goal for Liverpool coming from Philippe Coutinho (68’), he was struggling to tackle Leicester’s midfield and defense for most parts of the evening, and that has been the case for a long time now. When the most creative player of a team stops creating frequent chances in the game, it becomes the best recipe for a disaster. From being the No.5 team in the league to saving a berth in the top three, is not going to be an easy journey for the Reds and same goes with the defending champions.
The Leicester City 3-1 Liverpool game may have given the EPL title holders a chance to celebrate but Ranieri is going to be missed by fans and Leicester has to continue their magic to at least sum up the tournament on a respectable position.
