Dinamo Bucharest Midfielder Patrick Ekeng Dies After Collapsing On Pitch.

The Dinamo Bucharest and Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng died after collapsing during a league match against Viitorul Constanta.

The 26-year- old midfielder had been on the pitch as a second-half substitute for only seven minutes when he fell to the floor, with his side 3-2 ahead, in the 70th minute. He was rushed to the nearby Floreasca Emergency Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead in less than two hours after collapsing.

Patrick Ekeng was making his seventh league appearance since joining the club in January. Ekeng played in Europe for Le Mans, Lausanne and Córdoba and had seven senior caps for Cameroon.

The match was streamed live on television in Romania. According to Digisport, it took two minutes and 47 seconds for Ekeng to be taken to the ambulance, which was intended to be used purely for transportation and had no specialist equipment. According to local media, Ekeng suffered a heart attack on the field while playing.
