Leave Alexis Sanchez’s move to Man United aside, there is an even bigger transfer rumor that has been doing the rounds of European Football circle which hints towards Cristiano Ronaldo reuniting with Red Devils.
Cristiano Ronaldo joining Manchester United is a debate unanswered for a couple of years now and every time the Portuguese seem to struggle at Real Madrid, he is immediately linked to a move to Premier League.
Moreover, there have been many reports suggesting that Ronaldo is not happy with how the club is treating him and he thinks that he is no more a top priority for Zinedine Zidane. On the other hand, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner is yet to sign a modified contract which will see him banking almost the same amount as Lionel Messi does with Barcelona.
However, if it was for just that, the 32-year-old would have held his horses and try to be with the Men In Whites, but his recent form in La Liga and the fact that Real Madrid is reeling in the league for points, have made the matters even worse.
Cristiano Ronaldo has just scored 4 goals in 14 appearances in the Spanish League and while he is the leading scorer in UEFA Champions League, his underperformance in La Liga hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Now, Ronaldo thinks that due to his not-so-good form, Los Blancos are playing games with him because they don’t believe that he deserves the same contract as that of Lionel Messi’s. This is the same reason why he is contemplating with the idea of joining Manchester United by the end of 2017/18 season, where he will get the appreciation he deserves.
That said, while it is not a hidden fact that Red Devils have long been waiting for Ronaldo to join their ranks in Premier League, it is also true that if they pursue Alexis Sanchez for a £35 million move from Arsenal, it would push their need for Cristiano Ronaldo’s return further down their priority list.
Everything said and done, Real Madrid are currently trailing by 19 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona and from the looks of it, the defending champions have already lost their hold on the trophy.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has proved his worth, £88m a year to be specific, once again, as he continues with his consistency, having scored 17 times in 19 appearances in La Liga.
While everything should be taken with a pinch of salt, do you think that Cristiano Ronaldo should reunite with his former club at such a crucial stage in his career and is he demanding what he deserves at Real Madrid?
