Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo Takes His Team On The Verge Of La Liga Title

Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid was a clash that decided the Spanish giants’ future in the Champions League 2016/17 and they entered the match knowing that a total of four points from their remaining two games will lead them towards the La Liga title after five long years, irrespective of what Barcelona does in its remaining game.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one again the man of the hour as he strikes twice during the Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid match and gifted Zinedine Zidane’s men a perfect start as early as in the 10 minute. Facundo Roncaglia was tackling Isco on the edge of the area and the ball kindly fell for Ronaldo after Isco traveled with it from Real’s side. The Portuguese superstar hammered a ferocious left-footed shot through Gustavo Cabral’s legs which went beyond the helpless Sergio Alvarez.

The one thing that only Messi had was a great left foot and it seems like Cristiano Ronaldo has also started working on this tactic.

There were not many opportunities for the away side in the first half but Cristiano Ronaldo made Celta Vigo pay for their wastefulness in the midfield, minutes into the second half as in the 48th minute Real was leading by 2-0 when Isco’s brilliant effort in the middle that included charging past a couple of defenders and slipping a short grounded pass beyond the defence for Ronaldo, was coolly slotted inside the left-hand post by the four-time Ballon d’Or winner.

However, in the 69th minute, Sergio Ramos made a mistake that might have given both Celta Vigo and Barcelona a sign of hope as it resulted in the score tally reflecting 2-1. Guidetti attempted a shot from outside Real Madrid’s box and Keylor Navas was ready to prevent it from going inside the nets but the shot got a deflection from Ramos’ leg and went past the goalkeeper’s head after a bounce from the deflection.

Karim Benzema then turns savior in the very next minute with a tap-in from Marcelo’s low from the left and brought back Real’s dominance to the game. The Frenchman, once again, proved instrumental as he pounced on Vigo’s defensive error in the 70th minute, feeding Toni Kroos into the left side of the hosts’ area and the latter confidently found the back of the net to wrap up a resounding win for Real Madrid.

Now, Zinedine Zidane’s men simply need to a draw or win and just have to avoid a loss against Malaga to seal the deal, however, if Real lose the match, they can still clinch the La Liga title as long as Barcelona fails to beat Eibar.

Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, added another feather to his record cap after the first goal of the Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid game and becoming the all-time top-scorer in the top five European leagues, surpassing Jimmy Greaves’ record of 366 goals.

Adding Ronaldo’s second goal to the tally, he stands strong at the first position with 388 goals.
