Ross Brawn Rallies Behind Lewis Hamilton, The Star F1 Driver Who Raised His Voice For The Cause Of The Moment!

“Okay Lewis, good job buddy, well-done mate!” In other words, “Get in there, Lewis, well-done mate!”

These are the usual words of praise that shower Lewis Hamilton with the regard he merits upon completion on a Grand Prix, which going on “Hammer-time’s” magnificent run of recent form more often than not, results in a win.

But it must be said, at present, these are the words one would love to use for what Lewis Hamilton has done to support a cause that much of the world is talking about and being really generously concerned about: the sad (recent) demise of George Floyd owing to an incident of Police brutality in the USA.

For to put it honestly, had that not have happened; had Lewis Hamilton not have opened up a massive wave of support and thus far, the only wave of support from the F1 fraternity- in making a case for “Black Lives Matter”- one would have thought that F1 is an insular sport that just cares about big drivers and those fancy cars and mega wins.

Nothing that happens in the broader outside world ever matters to the sport.

But no, Lewis is not like other drivers who he took on for their strange maintenance of silence and absolutely no response on social media at a time where much of the world was singing in chorus toward a voice of compassion, a voice of reason.

Now, Ross Brawn has thrown his weight behind Lewis Hamilton in the important albeit sensitive matter.

It’s one thing when a famous driver rallies around a cause. But it’s something quite different when a major sports’ boss joins in with support too.

It means that all’s not wrong in the world where there are always ultra-competitive matters to be tackled and duels to be won day in, day out. It suggests there are people who care, who wish to think and act sensibly- right?

Here’s what Ross Brawn happened to share hours ago in his support of the cause of equality which is Lewis Hamilton’s passion-project of sorts!

“Lewis is a great ambassador for the sport, and I think his comments are very valid,” Ross Brawn told Sky Sports. “We support him completely.”

That’s not all!

F1.com quoted Ross Brawn on a larger perspective and shared, Brawn says F1 is working to increase diversity, starting at grassroots level in terms of driving opportunities but also working across the spectrum of roles involved in F1.

Truth is, there are times when one needs to rise to the occasion and stand on the mantle to speak up, to raise a voice of concern about topical, sensitive but impactful causes like advocating racial equality, isn’t it?

To stand on a platform so that one can speak out against racism is anyways a brilliant move, albeit one that only few seem interested toward.

For now, we can be glad that some of the most interesting and inspiring (not to mention, successful names of F1) are keen in the matter and are doing their bit.
