H5N1 was the first type that infected humans, otherwise, bird flu has several types. It started in 1997 in Hong Kong and was mainly due to the poor handling of infected poultry. It could come in contact with human beings through infected bird faeces, nasal secretions, or even the secretions from the mouth or eyes. If the poultry has been cooked properly, then it won’t have a negative effect even if it has been infected by the virus already.

2. Ginger

Studies have shown that ginger could have properties related to fighting avian influenza. Gingerols and zingerones present in ginger prevent the growth of influenza and also help in boosting immunity against it.

3. Astragalus

It is an immune enhancing herb that increases the production of interferon and supports bone marrow. The proteins it contains helps to fight pathogens and their entry inside the body. The roots of astragalus can be boiled and added to tea or soups, for easier consumption.

4. Echinacea

It is known as the blood purifier and it strengthens the immune system against avian influenza. The herb extracts of ethanol are effective against avian influenza.

You need to boil a few pieces of dry echinacea leaves and make them into a tea. You can try to consume it 2-3 times a week for maximum benefits without any possible side effects.

5. Garlic
