These Petrifying Photos Will Make You Want To Never Wear Mascara Again

Remove Makeup Before Bed.

This is considered to be the golden rule of Makeup 101 which should be noted and followed by everyone who applies makeup, regularly or not, doesn’t matter. This one practice not only keeps your skin looking fresh and young but also protects it from the harmful chemicals of makeup that we slather on our faces every day.

However, more often than not we don’t completely surrender ourselves to this guideline, either because we’re too tired or lazy about it, or completely forgetful about it. We all have been there done that, no matter how much we want to deny it and if by now you’ve never come across an alarming notice for it, then this is it. These pictures would act as a motivation for you to remove makeup before bed, no matter how tired you’re.

According to the case study, published by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a 50-year-old Australian woman called Theresa Lynch developed an eye condition after failing to properly remove her eye makeup for 25 years, as reported by Metro. Lynch used to apply heavy coats of mascara every day and then consistently failed to remove every speck of it from her. After years and years of being on the same track, she finally went to the eye doctor with a complaint of a strange feeling she has under her eyelids. Her eyelids felt heavy, her eyes felt irritated, and discharge leaked from her eyes. Even the eye drops and lubricating gels didn’t help her or provided a long-term relief.

When she finally went for the checkup, the doctor lifted up her eyelids only to discover dark, hard, calcified bumps, also known as concretions under her eyelids.

These concretions were a result of small particles of mascara that had lodged up under eyelids, all because she failed to remove them properly in the first place. The lumps posed a serious risk to the woman’s vision. If left untreated, Theresa may have gone blind. However, after the 90 min surgery, the doctors were finally able to remove those hard lumps from her eyelids. Here are few before and after pictures of the entire thing.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned after seeing these pictures and reading the real reason behind how it happened, then it has to be, to be extra cautious of my makeup removing sessions in the future and don’t take them lightly.
