Why Are Indore’s Farmers Sporting Bright Smiles!

The last thing that anyone needs in a country so utterly dependent on the agricultural produce for which the farmer is solely responsible, is the dwindling of happiness or let’s say, a loss of smile of the very farmer himself. Can there be anything that can deny this simple evidence of truth? That being said, when the farmer uprising started in regards to the ambitious new reforms that have been put forth to revitalize the agrarian Indian economy, there were widespread reactions. And truth be told, it wasn’t even hard to understand why.

Yet, what’s making news in a country where the farmers are constantly making news in the heart of the national capital, are indeed farmers but those who are miles apart from New Delhi.

As a matter of fact, it’s Indore’s farmers who sprinted to news in the recent hours. Now, the question is – why; what led to a respite of sorts where the phrase farmer is applicable in India?

Here’s what you need to know.

A few hours back, a group of Indore’s farmers received no fewer than a sum of INR 3.24 crore worth of money in their accounts. In absolute opposite to how there are growing concerns regarding the future and well-being of the farmers up north in the country, it certainly made for something ever-lasting and credible where the fate of Indore’s farmers was concerned.

So now the question is why was such a huge sum of money deposited into their accounts. And these, it ought to be remembered, were around 16,000 farmers!

The above move happened on the part of the Farmers’ Welfare Scheme (of the State Government) under which a huge sum of INR 324, 22000 was transferred to the bank accounts of 16, 211 farmers of the district.

In fact, several news outlets, upon this occurrence sprung to the national attention for carrying information that reflects a certain positivity where the lives of farmers are concerned (such a rarity nowadays).

A district level program was organized at the DAVV auditorium in the presence of Usha Thakur, Minister of Tourism and Culture. On this
occasion Collector Manish Singh, Additional Collector Mayank Agarwal,
District Panchayat CEO Himanshu Chandra and concerned departmental
officers-employees and farmers of the district were present. During
the programme, a live broadcast of Chief Minister Chouhan’s address was
telecast here in auditorium also.

Minister Thakur distributed symbolic checks of Rs 2,000 each to 22
farmers from various tehsils of the district. Along with this, two
farmers were given work order of Rs 77, 820 and Rs 61, 730 under Prime Minister Agricultural Irrigation Scheme and two farmers were given credit of Rs 72,000 and credit of Rs 48,000 under Animal Husbandry Farmers Credit Card Scheme.

That being said, what every Indian must remember and shouldn’t deny is that at the end of the day, it is the farmer- the unrelenting, inexhaustible producer of the nation’s agricultural output who is also playing a key hand toward the country’s growth and rich economic harvest.

Therefore, he is someone whose rights must be upheld and contributions valued immensely (and unendingly so). One certainly wishes that the current discord as being experienced in the rest of the country regarding the welfare of the farmers is soon resolved amicably.
