Sushma Swaraj Targeted Chandy’s Remarks With Multiple Tweets

Sushma Swaraj, the External Affairs Minister targeted Kerala Chief Minister Ommen Chandy on Thursday over his remarks on Indians’ evacuation. Chandy’s government had paid for 29 Keralites who evacuated from Libya and Sushma asked that who had paid for thousands of Indians from the state evacuated earlier.

Sushma Swaraj is currently recuperating from an illness at AIIMS in Delhi and she made a series of tweets from her twitter account following Chandy’s remarks made in the run-up to assembly polls in the state on May 16.

Earlier also there has been an exchange of words between Congress and BJP over the remarks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi where he compared some aspects of Kerala to strife-torn Somalia.

Sushma Tweeted, “Mr.Chandy – You started this debate – as to who paid? Not me. We always did this because this is our pious duty towards our citizens.”

She posted another tweet adding to the previous one, “Mr.Chandy – You said ‘Kerala paid for 29 Indians evacuated from Libya.”

The tweets were the reply of the comments made by Kerala chief minister, who is furious over Modi for crediting Chandy’s government for bringing back the Indians from Libya.

Modi had told a large group of people, that government had rescued families stuck in Libya. Stating the government has saved six families and evacuated 29 people and Indian Government is committed to helping people who go abroad to work.

He also said that it gives him immense pleasure that these people are coming back and will soon be united back with their families.
