PM Modi Set To Interact With DMs Of 100 Districts With High COVID Caseload!

Crisis, crisis everywhere, not a sigh of relief. Truth be told, if any stranger was wanting to know the current condition of India, among the world’s largest democracies then perhaps the above would serve as an ideal definition. For how else would you describe the state of affairs of a country where the second wave of COVID 19 crisis has left no easy day for the democratically-elected nation?

While until a few days ago, the urban centres of India, it seemed, were the only ones to be afflicted by the grave crisis with hospitals running in over capacity and patients finding no relief whatsoever, it now appears that the crisis has afflicted the hinterland of the country. The villages and districts too are facing the heat of the deadly second wave of the COVID 19 virus.

And as of a few hours ago, news confirmed that the honourable PM Modi will be interacting with as many as 100 districts that are currently challenged with the COVID cases overload.

Yes, you read that right. While those that went unaccounted for could yet have more COVID cases but, there are, at least, 100 districts in India that are overloaded with COVID cases, with whom PM Modi is going to have a word.

That being said, in the present capacity, India has already reported an active COVID case load of 37.10 lakh. There are countries in the world whose population isn’t even that much, truth be told. Think Israel, Germany, Belgium or The Netherlands for example. But that being said, the key meetings featuring PM Modi with the DMs of these 100 districts are bound to take place on May 18 and 20th.

The key agenda of these meetings, it goes without saying, would be-

To take cognisance of the entire situation.

And find out effective measures of battling the COVID case overload.

That being said, here’ more information with regards to the ghastly second wave of the COVID 19 virus that has troubled India endlessly, as published in a latest report on The Indian Express:

As India grapples to contain the second wave of Covid-19, records analysed by The Indian Express show a pattern of vaccine inequality, with seven states accounting for a staggering 85 per cent of all doses administered to those in the 18-44 age group so far. Of the 34.66 lakh doses administered from May 1-May 12, over 85 per cent were administered in seven states: Maharashtra (6.25 lakh), Rajasthan (5.49 lakh), Delhi (4.71 lakh), Gujarat (3.86 lakh), Haryana (3.55 lakh), Bihar (3.02 lakh), and Uttar Pradesh (2.65 lakh).

Haryana on Thursday joined a list of states which have floated global tenders to procure Covid vaccines. These states include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Delhi.

One can only hope that things get better and that India sees bright sun instead of haunting days that have troubled almost the entire country and endlessly so.
