Krishna, the Lord who is said to be the eighth incarnation (Avatar) of Lord Vishnu is worshipped as the major deity in Hinduism. The mesmerizing tales of his life are nothing but soulful teachings that particularly focus on finding the purpose of life given to us. He is the ultimate idol and his Karma Theory is still the best philosophy of living and a unique approach to liberation but, there is one more thing he taught the world – “LOVE”. We might have known about so many love tales, but the story of Krishna Radha love story is among the most unique ones you must know about.
If love is said to be the divinity, then Krishna is the one who breathed life into that. He practically started love as an idea which later on explained as the sole purpose of life by him. In Bhagavad Gita, he explained, “He who has no attachments can really Love others, for his love is pure and divine.” While Krishna was always in love with everything and everyone (even the omens and devils he killed), there is no love like he embraced for Radha.
There are many versions of Radha Krishna love story, but every version has its own charm. Although, this one version is most popular and is said to be the closest to the truth.
Radha Krishna love story began when they both were children. Radha was 10 years elder to him yet from the first glance, she lost her heart to Krishna. Krishna too considered her the goddess of beauty, joy and both were madly in love. Radha lived for Krishna and so did he. Once he decided to marry Radha and asked his mother Yashoda, father Nand and Sage Garg but all three of them refused. His father and mother denied saying that she and her family is much lower in status. She is older and engaged, but Sage Garg told the truth of Krishna’s birth and purpose after which Krishna decided to tell the truth to Radha. He then convinced Radha that they had to be apart, since he has to fulfil the bigger purpose in life; but they will always have a spiritual connection.
Radha and Krishna were already two beings and a soul, yet Radha understood that true love is not about being together, it’s about the soul connection. The universe knew that a love like that will never die, and it never did. Krishna told Radha that her name will always be taken before him and people will remember them as an epitome of Love.
Rukmini was a princess who was compelled by the stories of Krishna. She fell for Krishna without meeting him and considered him as her husband. When her brother tried to get her married to Shishupala forcefully, she then wrote a letter to Krishna expressing her deep love and asked him to abduct her when she would visit the temple of Goddess Ambika (parvati) before her wedding. Krishna, having received the message in Dvarka, told the brahmin to inform Rukmini that he had also heard about her and was ready to make her his wife.
Now reading an upfront confession like this Krishna was impressed by her devotion and bravery. He then with brother Balarama abducted Rukmani and married her. Rukmani became the Patrani or principal queen of Krishna.
He then married Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Nagnajiti, Bhadra, Lakshmana.
Once he released 16,100 women from a harem and married them all. That’s how he had 16,108.

Love is divided in two Rasa, – Parakiya and Svakiya. While Krishna has always saved Parakiya Rasa for Radha, he took a decision of showering Svakiya Rasa on his wives, especially Rukmani. It is described in Vedas the former one is like gold and later is like iron, hence it can be concluded that the true Love of Krishna was always for Radha.
